Virgil "Wayne" Conder, age 65, of Crestview, died Monday, July 14, 2014 at North Okaloosa Medical Center. He was born on May 15, 1949 in Evansville, Ind.

He retired as a Vietnam veteran after serving 22 dedicated years in the United States Navy. "My dad wore his uniform with honor and had a great love for life," one of his children said.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 75 and Amvets Post No. 35, both in Crestview.

Survivors are his sons, Travis and Lance Conder-Cranmore; daughters, Jessica Conder Fletcher and Connie Cozzolino; grandchildren, Kaiden James Conder, "His Boy," Camden Reign Fletcher and Damon Chase Fletcher; sisters, Diane Conder Christian and Betty Conder Zielinski; 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

His father, Virgil R. Conder, mother, Irene F. Conder; twin sister, Jane Conder; and brothers, Bob and David Conder, preceded him in death.

A memorial service is 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 25 at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola Naval Air Station, with Chaplain David Gibson.

A celebration of life will be held at Amvets Post No. 35 at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26.
