Wayne H. Destin passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2017, at his home, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, with his family by his side.
Wayne was born in his home in Destin, Florida, December 24th, 1930, and was a live long resident of the Fort Walton Beach and Destin area. He graduated from Choctaw High School where he was known as "Digger Destin" during his high school football career. He also served his country as an Army Veteran with a 4 year enlistment during the Korean War. After the Army, Wayne returned to Destin where he worked on the charter fishing boats and tug boats. He then became a master carpenter and built numerous homes in Destin and Fort Walton Beach. Wayne's passions were his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his pets. He was an avid pool player and a longtime member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Destin; his daughter, Anita J Horn and her husband, Mark; his step- daughter, Connie Hornung; and his step-son, Ronald J Whitehead and his wife, Pamela.
Wayne is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, Courtney King, Brandi Hill, Gabrielle Destin, Janielle Destin, Bonnie Destin, Christopher Destin, Joshua Destin, Suzanne Destin, Dawn Byars, Mitzi McGill, Justin Daly, Brendon Daly, Jerremy Whitehead and Jathan Whitehead. He also has many many great grandchildren that he loved dearly. Wayne was preceded in death by his sons, Tyree Destin, Kevin Destin and Kenneth Destin.
There was a graveside service on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017, at Beal Memorial Cemetery, 316 NW Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach.
