Ashley Lord

Opp - A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Ashley Deborah Lord, 32 of Opp, Alabama left this world unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 as the result of a tragic vehicle accident.

Ashley was always so much her own person who will be remembered as a bright adventurous young woman with a life that was filled with family and friends. She was compassionate, funny and a free spirit with a sense of adventure ready to take on the world. Ashley pursued and enjoyed the things she really cared about. She always made everybody laugh and her quick wit, tempered with love and humor, kept us all on our toes. Most importantly, Ashley had a deep love for family, and cherished the time they spent together watching movies, playing games and practical jokes on each other.

In her senior year of high school Ashley was able to travel abroad on a multi-country European tour that included Paris, Rome, Sweden, Germany, to name a few. She later had the opportunity to chase her dreams of travel by working aboard an iconic Mississippi Riverboat cruise line thru many Mid-American cities, and of course she had adventurous shore excursions with co-workers during her off time. Ashley also worked at the National Park Service in the Denali Lodge, Alaska and oh the stories that came from that adventure.

One of Ashley's greatest joys was being a big sister to her cousins who spent countless sleepovers and will honor her spirit by living their lives to the fullest. You could always find her eating holiday dinners at the kiddies table. She had a love affair for food especially homemade bread, and often packed a loaf of her grandma's bread to take back when she worked on the cruise boat. She loved cooking and baking and trying new recipes. Entering in numerous contests she was just featured in for her lemon drop chicken meatballs. Of course she loved ice cream and anything dipped in chocolate. Ashley loved creating-designing clothing, hats, jewelry, fashion accessories, and had a love for art, drawing and painting. Ashley and her best friend Jackie enjoyed daily conversations, traveling and dreaming together. Ashley and her mother Diana shared a special bond and friendship that exceeded the typical mother-daughter relationship. Diana is comforted in knowing there was nothing left unsaid between them.

Ashley is survived by her mother Diana Broxson second father Darrell Griffin, grandparents Chip and Dorothy Reed, loving dad Perry and second mother Natalyn Slaughter, grandfather Joseph Broxson, uncles Bruce Broxson, John Bryant, aunt Mary Broxson, paternal father Bob Lord, grandmother Marie Lord, aunt Debbie Lord, special young cousins Aiden, Alissa, Kadence, Madison; sisters Lexi, Maddie, Sara C., Megan, Sara L., Jessica; brothers Hayden, Elijah and Alex; nieces and nephews, Felicity, Penny and Emmett, along with many aunts, including aunt Gladys who was near and dear to Ashley's heart, uncles, extended family, countless special friends, co-workers, and of course Ashley's dogs Honey and Kirby, which she referred to as her "dogdrens".

When you think of Ashley, celebrate the good memories you have of her with laughter and Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.
